The Baptism Site

Bethany Beyond the Jordan is a holy Christian pilgrimage site located on the eastern bank of the Jordan River in Jordan. It is traditionally believed to be the place where Jesus Christ was baptized by John the Baptist, marking the beginning of his public ministry. The site holds great religious significance for Christians worldwide, as it is closely connected to one of the most important events in the New Testament. It is also mentioned in the Bible as an area where John the Baptist preached and baptized people. Archaeological excavations have revealed ancient churches, baptismal pools, and monasteries from the Byzantine period. Many of these remains show that the area has been used for worship since the early centuries of Christianity. Today, pilgrims from all over the world visit the site to experience its spiritual atmosphere and to renew their baptismal faith. Visitors can walk through the archaeological park and see historical ruins and the Jordan River itself. The site is also recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its religious and historical importance. It is considered one of the most sacred Christian locations in the world.
